Supporting entrepreneurship in the area of social innovation was the motto of the initiative conceived by INOVA + in partnership with the Metropolitan Area of Oporto, through the creation of the Social Innovation Ideas Contest, challenging the public to submit corporate projects whose business ideas target the resolution of issues and challenges in the area of social innovation.
In total more than 50 applications were received, from which the 10 projects that had higher feasibility of being implemented and self-sustainability were selected to go onto the Empowerment Phase of the Social Innovation Campus.
With a two-day duration, the Social Innovation Campus was structured according to a set of practical workshops on various issues essential to the development and acceleration of business ideas, as well as other extra activities in which entrepreneurs relied on an experienced team of mentors of INOVA +, and on the participation of Microsoft and the Mais Foundation regarding the support and coaching to consolidate the ideas of business projects.
After this phase, the projects were presented to a panel of judges that chose three ideas and the winners received a monetary support, mentoring and incubation services to support the implementation of their projects.
This initiative promoted by INOVA + gave participants the chance to have intensive contact with the ecosystem of entrepreneurship, promoting the interaction between entrepreneurs and investors.
